Get Your Videos Found!

Write a searchable description that helps people find your video.

For people to find your video, YouTube needs to know what it is about. With a detailed description you can help YouTube out and get 10x more views over time.

  • Write as long a description as possible. This lets YouTube to understand what the video is about and when it should be included in YouTube search results. YouTube allows descriptions of up to 5,000 characters. Search engines will crawl the description to determine what your video is about and whether it is optimized.
  • Add a transcription of your video in the description. If your transcription is too long, you can add a shorter, curated version.
  • Include relevant keywords in your description. Make sure not to over do it, insert keywords naturally.
  • Include timestamps in your description. Timestamps allow viewers to jump to different sections of your video. This is especially helpful for longer videos and can help increase engagement.
